Sadly, it's going to pass!
It would be lovely if Freepers new how to stick to facts. The Bush tax cuts already expired in 2010. The current president and congress agreed to extend them for two more years until 2012. 2012 is an election year and the expiration of the tax cuts will be front and center and will be an issue during 2012. This is what was true before this bill was passed and this bill has done nothing to increase or decrease the chances the Bush tax rates are not extended. If anything, the GOP won the debate on using tax increases to solve the debt problem.
"How do you like your sh t sandwich?"
If this goes on much longer, there may not be a next battle....at least not before a lot of people get killed.
Looks like either Mitch or John has a FR account.
You are not wrong, we're just talking about two different things.
I’m not going to spread division and dissent amongst our ranks Grima Wormtongue. I am suspicious of any poster that does.
“No offense intended. She is my representative, but I really see no reason for her to show up for this vote. It will pass, and many of the no votes would switch to yes if their party told them to do so.”
Agree 100%. Anyone who thought this vote was in doubt is a dummy...how many times do we have to get snowed over to understand these ruses?
“Her ads always claimed she voted moderate, but her voting history was pretty much straight-line Pelosi, especially in spending.”
Of course, but I still kind of liked her...for some weird reason.
Not true. Everybody I know at the NYT and over at CNN/CBS/ABC says she is a moderate.
does anybody doubt this is going to pass? This whole stink is theater for the masses. They aren’t talking about cutting a single program, yet the democrats are yelling like it’s the end of the world, and the republicans are playing right along with the charade.
What hurts is how many times these votes are repeated. TARP, Stimulus, Debt Ceiling - it makes a mockery of representation.
Giffords’ district is more conservative than she is, but it doesn’t matter. For example, in the final days before the 2010 election, Gabby posted signs all over boasting of her endorsement by the VFW. If you stopped your car and read it carefully, in very small print at the bottom was that it was the VFW PAC. And what went unmentioned, including in the local news, was that the VFW PAC was dissolved by the VFW in retaliation for their giving Gabby an endorsement.
But I honestly wonder if it really matters who we vote for any more. If Allan West can go to DC and stab us in the back, and if darn near all the Congressmen lie about what they are doing, then in what sense are we a democratic republic?
I spent 25 years in the US military, and right now, I don’t know why I bothered.
Am I reading this correctly, that she didn’t vote?? http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2011/roll691.xml#NV
Yeah someone ought to give humblegunner a timeout. (hehehehe)
He just makes so much damn sense, it just ain’t fair. LOL
That isn’t the vote.
