Even with the rebate you would virtually always do better by buying tires online and having them shipped to an installer. Sometimes chains like Walmart list closeout tires online that aren’t in their stores — I just saved $50/tire over any in-store price and still had free shipping and free mounting.

I saved $250 on a set of four Continental Extreme Contacts buying them online and paying to have them shipped, including the $80 to mount and balance them. If you plan ahead, it’s a good deal. Me, I wanted a great set of tires ideally matched to a certain car, and those were the ones. Nobody stocked them locally.
