My fav early video is Scandal’s “The Warrior”

Not because the video was all that great, but just for Patty Smyth.

As a early 80s vid, I’d say Duran Duran were the masters, with “Hungry Like the Wolf” my fav. They made videos that told a story rather than just imitating live performances like so many of the early MTV era. The video is almost 30 years old (1982) and it is still pretty impressive.

The first MTV video I ever saw was the very peculiar Ashes To Ashes by David Bowie. If I recall correctly, he was doing a sort of strange, slow Mummer's strut up a twilight beach in a clown suit. Couldn't quite decide if it was eerie or ridiculous. It was both, in hindsight, the video that is. Still enjoy the song.

I bought Smyth’s self-titled solo album back in ‘92 (the one she did a duet with Don Henley) and not only was it pretty good, the photos of her on it...Yowza!
