Pete Townsend as a singer is one heck of a guitarist.Pete is better at the softer material, just give a listen to "Sunrise" on The Who Sell Out, one of the most beautiful songs you'll ever hear.

I think some of U2's music will be remembered. I still like the Joshua Tree album.
As for Bono, he thinks he is god. He's not that bright though because just doling out money to the poor doesn't work.

Thank you for the compliment!

“U2 has been around for about 30 years now and is bigger than ever.”
If air time is the judging factor I’m not so sure, its rare for me to hear their crap anymore. I hear about some of Bono’s speeches and allot of tax stuff but not much by way of music.

Roger Daltry is known to be conservative as is Keith Richards and Mick Jagger.
They like to keep the money they earn instead of blowing it on taxes.

Is that a pun?I can't explain.

I guess Daltrey won’t get fooled again!
To: IronJack

yup...
The other members of The Who expelled Daltrey from the band in late 1965 after he beat up drummer Keith Moon for supplying drugs to Townshend and Entwistle, causing him to re-examine his methods of dealing with people. A week later, Daltrey was admitted back to the band, but was told he'd be on probation. He promised there would be no more violent outbursts or assaults. Daltrey recalled, "I thought if I lost the band I was dead. If I didn't stick with The Who, I would be a sheet metal worker for the rest of my life."

In terms of concert attendance, U2 is still a monster - $700 million gross for their latest tour which started back in 2009 - I caught them down at the Rose Bowl and thought they still sound great. I try to avoid listening to the views of musicians and actors - these people are famous because they can make music or act, not because they know anything about politics or social issues.

Well, yeah - I couldn't even name a song off U2's last few albums. Similarly, my favorite Stones albums and Who albums were written before I was born. Most bands aren't the Beatles, who might have gone out at their creative peak with Abbey Road.
To: Chode
I can’t think of any rock star that has taken as good care of himself over the years as Daltrey, especially considering the rest of the band. Talk about polar opposites, between him and Keith Moon.

It's actually even more outrageous than that. Bono routinely visits heads of states (including POTUS) to beg them for more money from their governments for the poor, especially Africa.
In other words, he doesn't just want to give money to the poor, he wants to give YOUR money to the poor, regardless of your opinion. I consider that morally abhorrent. Then he turns around and does what he can to avoid paying taxes. That's adding hypocrisy to his immoral desires.

Daltrey did an incredibly campy and surreal movie, called "Lisztomania", directed by none other than Ken Russell, with a guest appearance by Ringo Starr as the Pope. It is about the life and times of the first rock 'n' roll star, Franz Liszt, along with Richard Wagner. The truly freaky part is as weird as the movie is, it is fairly close to the real life of Liszt.
If you like bizarre movies, though it is hard to get, it is worth it.

A great song, indeed. I like to call The Who Sell Out “Townshend’s first masterpiece.”
First of several.
Cheers,
