ERIE, Colo. (CBS4)- The district attorney has cleared an Erie police officer who shot and killed a familys pet earlier this month.
District Attorney Stan Garnett said the dog lunged at the officer.
Its owner, Brittany Moore, says the German shepherd named Ava didnt do anything that warranted being shot.

I agree with you in part.
It does not make the shoot justified but it does make the owner an idiot.
An idiot? Really?
If someone had never read a story about a dog shooting a cop, and had no reason to believe that his/her dog was no threat to an officer while in his/her home and in his/her presence, do you believe that someone would reason that he/she had best lock the dogs away?
The problem is not the owner, who had the dog in question under control. The problem is with the cop who didn’t ask the owner to put the dogs in another room, but shot first. The cop needlessly used deadly force to solve a non-problem.
