Lawyers for one thing are very particular about commas. A comma used or not used can very significantly change the interpretation of a contract for one example.

I remember reading about a court case where money was left for 3 people by a deceased relative. It was to be split evenly between Tom, Dick and Harry. The judges interpretation was that Tom was to receive 50%, Dick and Harry were to split the other 50% as they were judged to be "together" and not separate like Tom.

Interesting stuff!
