A brief quote from the article;
"According to many Internet sites espousing expertise involving Flags, courtrooms that display fringed flags behind a judge is a military courtroom. Such a courtroom tries cases on the basis of military law, not constitutional law, not common law, not civil law, and not statute law. According to Army Regulations, (AR 840-10, Oct. 1, 1979.) "the Flag is trimmed on three sides with Fringe of Gold, 2 1/2 inches wide," and "such flags are flown indoors, ONLY in military courtrooms."
You’re right about the yellow fringe representing maritime law. Years ago, people understood the significance of that and you never saw American flags with yellow fringe for that reason.
The above article is pretty fascinating and rekindles a thought I had neglected for some years ... that it is the little things that establish large law/practice/actions.
Kind'a like, "the Lord helps those that help themselves" which I thought was in the bible ... 'till I read it.
Thanks for the link. I remember most of these from my Scoutmaster days, but it is always good to refresh ones memory.
Gee, I wonder what would happen if someone burned THAT FLAG. Probably be put against a wall and shot on the spot.
“WTF is a U.N. Flag doing in an American courtroom?”
I’ll second that emotion!!!
