This statement concerns me a bit:
- He [Rossi] is making "remarkable" progress on self sustaining E-Cats that do not require a constant input.
If 1) these devices provide an energy output in excess of the input and 2) that output can be converted to electricity, why in the world would it require progress, remarkable or otherwise, to tap the output, convert part of it to electricity, and substitute that for the constant input power?

Am I missing something obvious? I'd think that a fairly simple regulation circuit for the input power would certainly prevent any possibility of a runaway condition.

Basically, it would be because the output is difficult to regulate, fluctuating wildly.
