Because,
your first example occurs in someone's home, and in the second, the attempted robbery was at gunpoint.
Neither case allows you to draw the conclusion that you can always shoot someone in the back after they snatch some bills from your hand. In any State, including Texas.

BUMP
I recall once getting off I40 in New Mexico to recheck my directions. A bum came up to the car and tapped on the window pointing to his hand. I waived him off (I NEVER open my car up to anyone); he then banged a bit harder and repeated pointing to his hand. I said NO. He then began banging on my window with his fist. I pulled my trusty ole hog leg and pointed it at him...he got the message and left.
Moral of story: never open car to strangers and always have a gun when traveling.
Not long ago, my family and I were stopped at a light in Austin, Texas at night coming from looking at "holiday" lights in a famous part of town. I'm always looking around, and low and behold, some scumbag began jaywalking and walked around the back of our van. My seeing this, turned to look at me to see if I was watching. She then noticed that my hand was already chambered in the case it needed relief.
Luckily for the scumbag jaywalker, he minded his own business and kept on going.
You know, Elizabeth Smart's mom and dad hired one of these scumbags to go to their home and do work. We all know what happened after that.
You know the saying about good intentions.
