Those born between 1960 - 1964 used to be called ‘tweeners’ rather than boomers.

Not really, the media is full of writers that create all kids of pet niches and various dates for boomers, but the real definition for the generation stays the same.

Boomers' empowerment and patriotism was shaped by the sacrifices of their parents and grandparents who suffered through the The Great Depression and World War Two.

The boomers were the last mass warrior generation, producing almost 9.5 million vets.

What rubbish. Are you suggesting there’s a legal definition? Those dates are completely arbitrary. More babies born in 1946? Sure; more babies have always been born every year since America was created. Did the population suddenly decline after 1960? No. It’s grown exponentially.

One journalist writes it, so another one picks up the torch, and before you know it, people are defined by arbitrary years that have no basis.

Yeah, the Federal government and the United States Census Bureau, and the GAO is the source for that definition.

Your parents were the 'silent generation" and would have hit 1960 at age 22, and 19, were they rockers?

Not so!

WAR BABIES have NEVER been lumped in with the BOOMERS and have a much closer affinity to those born in the decade before them, than to those born in '49 and after. They are a tiny and kind of displaced neither here nor there mini generation who were crowded out by the BOOMERS and ignored, for the most part.

Could you be so kind as to name the source you have for sticking those born after Pearl Harbor in with the BOOMERS, as I haven't seen such a thing, ever, and it's a topic of interest to me.

Not rubbish at all. The boomers have also been called "war babies" because of a boom in births after the WWII servicemen returned home from the war. And the biggest block of them returned in 1945 and 1946.

That's why the boomer generation begins in 1946. You really need to review history on this.

Really? The Census Bureau? THAT’S your authority?

The Census Bureau is charged with counting people and reporting how old they are, for one thing.

If they arbitrarily decide to call people born in certain years Baby Boomers, I ask again — what’s the rationale? There is none.

Yes the federal government is my authority, it is the main source for the generational dates used throughout the industries and banking, insurance, etc.

, they launched the sexual and drug revolutions and fought for women's rights along with civil rights.

More than anything else, birth control pills launched the "sexual revolution".

Generally, most people who are not very self absorbed tend to be not as talkative as those who are. When you are busy being responsible, constructive, and saving the world from evil dictators you tend use your words more wisely and in a much more focused manner.

Both silents and boomers did their share of fighting dictators, and of course the silents were the loudest in the 60s, they were a great musical generation.

I am firmly planted right dead center of the boomer generation and don’t much care for it or many of the group.

We grew up with what we needed and not much else but I still consider us, my sibling and I, pretty well indulged but not like some. Doesn’t matter. The point is, this generation has brought a bunch of things that were simply rebellious and of no good to anyone. They have also raised a generation of sorry kids and grandchildren.

The world’s Greatest Generation gave spawn to the worlds Worst Parents. Go figure.
