Not me. There but for the grace of God. What infuriates me are people who live better than me on government benefits. People on food stamps who take Disney vacations. Eight-person households in which everyone is "disabled" and which receives a monthly government check in the mid-four figures.
You are entitled to a certain amount from disability SSD if you worked and paid into it. If because of certain other things you can afford a vacation, I don’t have a problem with that.
SSI (different from SSD) is different. It is easier to get, gives less money, and you aren’t supposed to have other assets. You don’t have to pay into it the way you do SSD. It’s more like real welfare for the disabled.
What I do have a problem with is people who can go on those vacations because they not only get that check, but they are secretly working for cash and lying about being disabled in the first place. I’ve seen so many of those.
They are “disabled” and yet can run their own business on the side on a cash basis. My son came home disgusted today from work because the boss’s SIL is trying to do that.
