Casey Anthony Live Trial Thread: SENTENCING (7/07/11)

Today is the day she may walk free. Prepare yourselves.

Call me Pollyanna, but the Judge did give FingerBoy 6 days. Hopefully he has scoured the law so she can cool her heels a little longer.

Unfortunately, some on this thread would accept your proposition.

“Isn’t it odd that the jury didn’t seem to think something weird was going on at all? “

Of course,its all very weird.
THAT is not enough to convict someone of capital murder.

C’mon, cv.

The State did not prove who killed Caylee.

Or how and when she died.

We are left with certain evidence that does not prove who did it.

You would have to make a leap of faith to make a charge of Murder 1 stick with the case presented by the State.

Casey is innocent until proven guilty.

The jury spoke—they could not make that leap of faith.

I disagree with them only on the manslaughter charge, because the circumstantial evidence presented indicates a degree of complicity on Casey’s part.

You hold a different view, and that’s fine.

But I have been a juror on a case where the State did a pisspoor job on a case that would have sent someone to prison.

I threatened to hang the jury, and I had to have the foreman request a re-reading of testimony twice, that my fellow 11 jurors misheard. We reconvened in court two times, and I was proven right both times.

The State appealed to the jury to make a leap of faith that the evidence did not support in my case, and I was not willing to do that. It scared me that there were 11 people who did not listen to the testimony when a person’s freedom was at stake.

End result, the person was acquitted of two felonies, but convicted on two misdemeanors for which there was sufficient evidence.

Justice was done. And that was 30 years ago.

So, like Vermont Lt. says—this kind of thing happens every day in courtrooms across America.

You can only decide a case on the evidence presented, not on what the prosecution asks you to make of that evidence.

The truth will come out eventually. It always does.

Laser removal or tattoo re-do can disguise that.

“I think that’s the point. The state already proved it in spades, and you keep proving that you are not able to see it. That jury was indeed your peers.”

Exactly. Perhaps Scotty Peterson should go free? They had less evidence on him..

Well all and good. Casey will be free, and can make millions of dollars off of her dead daughter. Last night a poster said the National Enquirer claimed she was pregnant; a coworker told me yesterday that on GMA that first thing she was going to do was have another baby to “fill the void” Caylee’s death made. On Boortz yesterday heard she already had a porn offer.
Will you still feel vindicated if another of her children winds up dead?

did you see the stats on this jury? one had a husband who died in jail.....another didn’t even graduate from high school....others had relatives charged with crimes, even convicted. LOONS all of them to come up with this verdict.

I’ve been shocked at all the loose talk regarding this trial. The disregard for the rule of law, the justice system, beyond reasonable doubt, etc is disturbing. I used to be proud of this country and the people in it. We’re on the road to anarchy.

Casey was seen on video (again direct evidence) with the boyfriend by 8pm on june 16 - no Caylee. Even if she wasn't dead yet, they could have inferred she had been left alone somewhere - a 2 year old - in the car?

Exacty! There sure as h*ll wasn't anyone that came forward saying they babysat Caylee during any of that time! I can only hope that little girl was asleep and never knew the final act committed by her mother!

Child abuse and manslaughter?

“Prove to me from the testimony given that it was a murder rather then an accident.”

The prosecutors did a great job of proving this if you’ve been keeping up with the trial...it’s all out there, still.

The Prosecution even connected the dots with great evidence. The jury was filled with a bunch of idiots who took 10 hours to not review one transcript or one piece of evidence.

It was a frucked up jury, not better than the OJ jury. They have no idea what the concept of “reasonable doubt” is. Worse they were lazy in not reviewing the evidence...they were played for fools by Beaz and they proved Baez was right to figure them for mental midgets.

I am amazed at how quickly some Freepers toss the constitution or our legal system (both the best in the world) when they don’t like “something”..then they sound like emotional, hysterical Libs.

How is this any different than us (and I do mean most of us) who have wanted Obama impeached? He was legally voted into office and yet, we hate it, we whine, we argue our points - we are all unhappy about our system in that case.

Have you ever commented that you think the electorate made a mistake in electing him? We are just voicing our opinions that those 12 people were wrong - didn't use the evidence given to them and now they want us to feel sorry for their unwillingness to even take a few days to discuss the case.

Wrong again...

I never said there was another killer....

But to ask the question, “Who killed Caylee?” or to say that has been said over and over “We will never know what happened to Caylee “...says you can not convict someone of capital murder and that is what Casey was charged with.

You can’t have it both ways. There are a million “possible” explanations for what really did happen...Possible is not enough to get the death penalty.

Fine. she’s totally innocent and it’s all Caylee’s fault that shes dead. Do you even think it was abuse not to call the cops after a month of the baby missing or do you believe the baby never was missing?

I really thought the DELETED computer searches for “neck breaking” and “how to make chloroform” were compelling. Especially when her mother tried to cover for slutmom. The speed at which the jurors came back is no evidence of the strength of the case-—as others have said, you find her guilty, you sentence yourself to more in captivity time, for punishment phase. This highly unusual total sequestration bit is not working.

“11 hours for something like this indicates that the prosecution sucked. No matter what the folks on TV want you to think.”

Can I call your kids and give them another viewpoint?

I will admit that I did not sit every day and watch hours of court TV.

I did watch a fair amount, at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day.

I really don’t care if you listen to me.

Listen to the Jury. They did sit through all of the evidence. But they did not sit through all of the analysis before and after. They did not listen to the emotional crap that went along with it. They were allowed to filter out all of the stuff that was not evidence.

Listen to me? My goodness, my dog doesn’t even listen to me. Listen to the Jury. They are the only ones we should listen to.
