One day - several years ago - a three-year old had a tantrum in my store. She grabbed a fragile plate and would not let go - lay on the floor kicking and screaming.

I managed to take the plate away from her (the parents were doing nothing).

After they left the store other patrons were commenting about the parents making a rod for their own back..etc.

However the episode was not over......dad came back and told me I had no right to interfere - his daughter was just "expressing herself" and he would have paid for whatever she broke. No mention of the consequences for the child or my store if the plate had broken in her hand.

Sometimes wonder how that little darling (now about 20 years old) "expresses herself".

My guess...she’s that Liberal woman who threw wine on Glenn Beck’s wife at Bryant Park.
