It is very common for narcissists, sociopaths, etc. to make elaborate plans that are not going to happen. They do live in a fantasy world- they think they deserve good things, do not understand the need to accomplish things to make things work- paying their dues in any way is not part of the picture for them. They have such an unrealistic view of themselves they feel they are special and entitled to whatever they want. When they make plans like Casey did with Amy for the apartment they firmly believe it will happen, they lie and stall, all along thinking somehow it will magically happen- because they somehow deserve it. When their fantasy plans don’t work out, they become very angry and blame someone else for it not happening. I think this is at the root of Casey’s issues with her mother. I have no doubt when Casey was a child her mother tried to make her happy and the problem with that is with a narcissist whatever you do is never enough- they are always convinced they deserve more.
I have been told that such people actually have very low self esteem and are projecting the confident, deserving image- but to me they seem so arrogant that doesn’t make sense.
Who knows what her mother was like before raising a narcissist- the traits I see in Cindy could have come about from trying to raise and support a narcissist, all the while expecting her to grow out of it- trying to make her happy until she did. I imagine it was all about Casey until Caylee came along...
That is a PERFECT explanation of how she acted with the police heading to disney to her "office". She just had to get past that moment.
