A trial that proceeds on the Jewish Shabbat, the Christian Sunday, and the National Holiday of Independence is for being held on any of those days, a affront to the peace and a mockery of civil order. And because it forces Jurors to ignore their own religious convictions and public standards of those religions — it is a perversion of justice, because it disrespects “the Supreme Judge of the world” to use the words of the Declaration of Independence.
