Think back to August 2008. I was a supporter os John McCain due to his service to the Country. I thought that he was treated badly by the Bush Family in 2000, and I was glad to see him get his due.Dirty tricks in south carolina primaryHow did the Bushes treat McCain badly? I recall it being the other way around.6 posted on July 4, 2011 3:45:01 AM EDT by skr
That clearly was the case. I wanted McCain to lose, but Bush played dirty pool to beat him in S.C.
While I was all to aware of his troublesome habit of "reaching across the aisle", I didn't care for Romney, finding him slick and disingenuous. I can still remember him trying to show us that he was a lifelong NRA guy (Boy, who wants to go to the shooting range for a photo-op this time around? Anyone up for a challenge from Sarah?) I thought Huckabee had alot of Elmer Gantry in him. Rudy and Fred Thompson got me excited, but when they failed to light a fire, I was happy for John McCain. The pickings, I agree, certainly were slim in '08. But not so slim as to make me look past the fact that John McCain was wrong on the issues he seemed to care about the most.Again, the whole field of declared candidates was a farce. But McCain was a parody of a conservative candidate, and I understood Rush when he mused that McCain would do almost as much damage by winning as he would by losing.
- McCain-Feingold? Unconstitutional, and damaging to conservatives.
- Amnesty? Reagan tried it, and it backfired on us big time.
- TARP? How'd that work out for ya?
- "Prisoners of War?" The only legitimate POWs we had were from fighting Saddam before he went underground, and from fighting the Taliban. The rest were people who studiously avoided any semblance of adherence to the Geneva Conventions - and accordingly had no rights under the Conventions.
She will enter after Labor Day..
I would vote for Palin if she would declare that she would appoint John Bolton as Sec. of State, Thomas Sowell as Sec. of Ed. (with the express purpose of dismantling and closing), Ron Paul as Sec. of Treasury, and all other Cabinet posts to actual conservatives.
Some of the people she has buddied up with in the past, give me pause. She does say some good things though.
Ping to my #12.Oh, and another bullet point against McCain?
- "Anthropogenic global warming" credulousness.
Well I agree with Rush and he is rarely wrong...and will be the first to tell ya.
I liked McCain’s war record sort of but the more I looked at him the more it unraveled
