The plane may be full of them. We once had a camper top on the pickup which set in the drive way unmoved for several months. Sold the top and the guy that bought it found it so full of scorpions he burned it. We camped in that sucker every weekend and 2 weeks straight in the winters. It’s a wonder we didn’t get bit.

Figured we got them from the rocks around deer camp. Also had a few rattlers but we made it okay. Gee, I miss the good ol’ days. Life was so uncomplicated.

So it didn’t have to strip and go though the detector? I’m sure there is a strict policy about profiling Arachnids.

Good thing it wasn’t a violin spider. You don’t want to fiddle around with them.

If you’ve been in Texas anytime at all you learn to turn your boots upside down and shake them real good before you put them on.

I have only been in Texas 71 years and I have never seen a scorpion.

Have seen a couple where I live in Texas. We have copper mesh in all the cracks around the house so they cannot get in.

Every now and then my dog brings something interesting to me. Last time I was home he brought me half of my sprinkler system he dug up. He is paying me back in rawhides my wife buys for him.

The only parts of Texas that I am not too familiar with is far west Texas and the panhandle. Lived my whole life on the Gulf Coast, hunted in south Texas for years and owned a place in the hill country, have many relatives who I visited in east Texas.

Poor little guy was probably just tired of the Texas heat, or maybe he decided that all of the other “critters” in Austin were too much competition......

Living north of Houston and it isn’t uncommon to see scorpions on the streets during the evenings. Even had one in the house recently!

To my surprise, I picked up a sheet of plywood and on top of the sheet (underneath) were (guessing) somewhere between 100-200 juvenile scorpions scattering in all directions. Happened in San Antonio, during the summer. Handled a rattle snake (took it home and skinned it) that was fatally squished by a drag box being pulled behind a small work tractor. Good thing too, because we were working in tall grass running a security fence around the same construction site. Lastly, climbed under a temporary fence to get to the roach coach at break-time (same job-site) and managed to put my hand and foot in a fire-ant nest. Good thing I wasn't allergic to same, as I experienced perhaps 500 bites all at about the same time. Felt like an electrical shock of some voltage/amperage. Texas... land of many living things hostile to man. Water mocassins, mosquitoes (I've got the scar to go with that one) tarantulas, alligators, and the list goes on... ;0)

These critters are all relatives ~ some are nasty but some of them are best steamed and served with garlic in butter sauce!

Lucky you. Used to work in Lubbock and Amarillo - they were everywhere in the summer. Had a hard hat and boots job. First day there the boss told me about the boots - turned out to be a great piece of advice. Here in Houston suburbs we just have red ants and their bite is almost as bad as a scorpion.
