So they put took a 70-year-old woman at the last minute, stuck her in a souped-up custom sports car, and expected that to work?

If you stuff a ‘Vette V8 into one of those things, the power-to-weight ratio would be enormous. It only weighed 2800 pounds and came with a 3-liter V8 that put out 145 HP.

Back in the '80s I knew a couple of guys that had a pretty good bidness putting crate 350s and even 427s into Nissan 280s.
Bought the motors from the local Chevy dealers. Did the appropriate welding and drive train, cooling system, suspension and rear-end rebuilds and on some even did custom interior work. They made some good money. They even did a few of the Triumph Stags if I remember right.
They made some real screamers. But I think these had a pretty short shelf-life due to ...'driver error.'
