I cut the grass today, it was hot hot hot in Garland, TX.
After that I did a little watering. Now, I'm outside a fair bit, notice all the people going by. Typical people out walking, people on bikes, noisy vehicles. There are several laborer types who cruise by on their 24" girl's bikes, I know most of 'em on sight.
Something weird happened around 5:30 or so. I see a Hispanic guy, maybe 30-40ish, on a bike, approaching from a direction that is not typical. No big deal, typical laborer guy with jeans and a sleeved western shirt and ball cap. He rolls through the stop sign and turns, still nothing unusual, but then he pulls into my neighbor's driveway up to the corner of their fence. As he turns the corner my neighbor's dog starts barking, that was weird, his dogs are always curious about passers by but they don't normally bark. This jerk stops right by the chainlink, I'm thinking he knows these dogs, and spits right in the face of the male.
Both are pits, which I don't have any particular issue with, but at that point the big one starts going nuts. Clearly, they recognized this idiot. He gets back on his bike and rides off down the sidewalk. Now, the male pitty is trying to jump over the 8' fence to get at this guy, dogs know when they are being dissed. That dog can jump 3/4 of the way over that fence, and wanted out bad.
Guy spit right in that dog's face. He's lucky they put up a fence taller than the 6' they used to have, because he could have cleared that, I swear. That dog wants this guy, he knew who it was when the scumbag turned the corner and rode up to his property.
I'll be watching for that moron, don't know what I can do but yell at him, but man I'd love to see that dog get a piece of his leg. Yeah, I'll diall 911 and all, but I'll also tell the cops what I saw him do and how I figure he had it coming if it happens.
When I was a kid they used to have guard dogs inside department stores at night. I’m sure that stopped some time ago probably because a thief got bit and the store got sued. Too bad, I would have loved to see the dog get medieval on some lowlife’s ass.
nothing like baiting the dog into a lawsuit...
True Story - How I became a Millionaire in America in 6 months....
This ain’t F&J, this neighborhood is 50 years old. That fence was put up after the residence was foreclosed on, before my neighbor moved in. Three sides are picket, one side is chainlink.
If I told you any more you’d have to kill me ;)
Start the lawn mower and let it idle to muffle the sound of the pellet pistol. Then casually walk out and start mowing.
In Texas? Talk to your neighbor about it. Take a picture of the jerk with your phone next time and send it to your neighbor.
It should get sorted...
Oh, and if you are around here, you know Arlen is Garland. We pee in the alley around here pal. When the lady next door isn’t out walking or mowing her alley grass.
My guess is this moron has harrassed these dogs on more than one occassion prior to this incident you witnessed. Others on the thread have suggested pictures and/or video of this idiot if he returns, and I concur. If the 80 lb pit were to get a piece of this guy, deservedly so, the dog would likely be viewed by LE as the aggressor absent evidence of this idiot’s actions.
F&J has been building in Texas since the 60s. I was just in a house in Lewisville saturday built in 1964 by F&J (one of hundreds).
According to the company history, F&J started building houses in N Texas in 1954.....
I don’t think 8 foot chain link is in the code for residential construction in Garland (not to say it couldn’t exist), but I have been in/around Garland for 30 years and never seen an 8 foot chain link fence in a residential area. Only areas are over near Dallas in the industrial parks.
Oh, I gar-on-tee, that male dog started barking as soon has he saw this guy. He’s done it before, I’ll bet ya.
Me too, lots of genius conservatives here at FR who bought the John Wayne Gace bs hook, line and sinker. Putrid.
Arlen fro KOTH is a mixture of Garland, and Arlington (Arlen).
Yeah, Garland is a rough town. But the story does not add up.
BTW, Pleasant Grove is MUCH rougher. The Grove rats would bbq a pit bull on a spit, if it got out of the yard.
I would not bet against you. This guy has a plan of some sort.
Like I said, only one side is chainlink. It must be in code, or they didn’t pull a permit and the local code guys will send them a nastygram. They send ‘em to me once a year, yer crepe myrtles are over 14’ high, or you don’t have house numbers on your alley fence, or some pickets are falling off, I get ‘em.
If you really think I’m jiving, PM me and I’ll send you a photo of the fence. But I think you are just messing with me. I have a close friend who built hundreds of the F&J houses you are talking about, won’t challenge you on their work (or lack thereof) but why would I lie about a fence? I like that guy’s fence, wish I had it, but I wish I had a new A/C, and a new porch, and a new ... fill in the blank. My home was built in 1957. Not by Fox, this place is built like a tank. We changed the windows a couple of years ago and it was like moving the bulkhead in a submarine.
It is refreshing to read a story that is not along the pit bull bite man threads I constantly see on the F.R. I wonder if this was not a Muslim who looks Hispanic. Muslims would most likely spit on a dog who they despise as being unclean. I would be tempted to dig out an exit hole under that fence. I am surprised the dogs have not already started one.
No, this guy was what most people around here would call Mexican, as far as I could see. I wasn’t really paying attention to the whole event, but my neighbor’s dogs don’t bark much, it seemed weird when they started. That’s why I was watching the dude.
I don’t have a problem with pits, all the people I know who have them swear they are big babies. I just wouldn’t want one of those things chomping down on my leg, that big old mouf and stout neck, that is something to be respected.
Just doesn’t seem like something someone would do.
But then again, there is a lot a drugees in garland, and they do strange things...
so I wouldn’t put it past somebody doing that. On a hot day, usually perps don’t do something without an immediate payoff.
Messin with the dog is not much of a payoff to be riding around in 100+ degree heat.
America was built on people that DO something about injustice.
I was around 98 at the time of the incident, occifer. I have to figure this guy just does not like those dogs, for whatever reason.
I know most of the people around here, or I have seen them a dozen times riding by on their bikes, no this guy was not someone I recognized. Who rides a bike around the ‘hood in jeans and a long sleeved shirt when it is near the century mark? Not me, laborers, there are half a dozen who go by here every day. To each his own. But I’ve never seen anybody else take the time to hassle the neighborhood dogs. That was just weird, and mean.
I’ll be watching for that nitwit. I guess he ain’t breaking any laws I could report to GPD, but he clearly has some chip on his shoulder about those dogs.
The guy was already gone!
