Did I tell you that the original Mrs Bender made me a raspberry/strawberry pie this morning before she went and had her nails manipulated and dyed? After they dried she went out in the big garden and “Scooped” the weeds in the isles with this spiffy tool I bought her at a yard sale for her 70th birthday. It cost me a buck but she is putting it to good use and should last her 15 to 20 years...

What kind of tool? Do you have a picture? I’m still using my Hula Hoe (the “Hoe with the Wiggle” - invented in Fresno and purchased about the time they started marketing it.) I notice that they are still selling them. I hope the original guy made a lot of money off of that tool. I even have one that the handle broke and my husband cut it short so you can use it when on your knees.

You must have done something very good in your life to be blessed with such an awesome partner. Was the pie good?

Actually, I would have thought that the raspberry/strawberry pie making would have dyed the nails of The Magnificent Flower Gardener the perfect shade of pink ... but then my entire fingers are an amazing shade of yellow-green from tying up tomatoes, so I'm no great source of nail knowledge.

Anyhoo, you spent way too much on the used tool, but the thought of 15 or 20 years of hard labor is the real clue that your heart was in the right place with the gift.
