During her visit to South Africa, First Lady Michelle Obama stopped by the University of Cape Town for an event with young people. She told the audience how she came from modest circumstances and was able to attend top schools and build a career at a big law firm, saying they too can achieve their dreams if they try hard enough. After her speech, she was asked a series of soft questions like, "What advice can you give the youth today?" But at the end of the session, one young person in the audience asked Mrs. Obama, who has devoted much of her time in the White House to promoting nutrition and healthy eating, what her favorite foods are.
"My favorite?" Obama said. "Oh, this is a tough one. "It is tough, you know, because if I say something not healthy, people will be, like, you aren't really committed to health. If I say something healthy, you know -- I do -- honestly, I like all kinds of foods."
Obama mentioned Indian food, and then Mexican food, and then said: "No, if I picked one favorite, favorite food, it's French fries." The audience began to laugh. "Okay? It's French fries," Obama continued. "I can't stop eating them." As the students laughed more, the First Lady quickly returned to her role as advocate of health eating. "But eat your vegetables," she said, to still more laughs. "And exercise."
I hate that she’s always pointing her finger at someone, like the girl in the photo.
My parents taught me that it isn’t polite to do that. Maybe I’m wrong, but she’s got that finger pretty close to that girl too! That would have made me want to smack her hand away.
I am so sick of all those people partying on my dime. I have had to cut back and cut back and cut back. And they’re all there stuffing their faces while the band plays on.
November 2012 can’t come soon enough for me.
Sorry for the rant.
Julia Child told us to eat carrots AND French Fries and told us how to make them so we’d want to eat them. She was comfortable in her skin and size and didn’t preach. Julia Child was a role model for good, nutritious eating. Michelle Obama? On what basis?
That pic really disgusts me, party all day, party all night while the country burns.
Obviously!!
How many vegetables does she really eat?
Looks like a pair of saddle bags hanging off of her behind. That or a pair of satchels.
Thanks for the link. Great column.
Well, at least french fries are vegetables...potatoes, LOL. And...they go straight to the woman's lower half. The part that doesn't get exercised as much as her mouth.
Julia Child would not have been in favor of Michelle Antoinette’s food police mentality. She really hated the food police.
I see Wookie Wide Load is giving the evil eye.
Michelle says: Put that meat back in the case. Uh-uh... no soda allowed, put that back, too. Grab some arugula and collards and no more than one turnip... STOP! Put that milk and cheese back, you ain't allowed to eat that! Now, get in your electric mini-car and go home... and remember to watch your thermostat... you know Barack don't want you bein' too hot or too cold and if you don't set it right we'll set it for you from the White Hut. Now, turn off the lights and go to sleep. We'll let you know what to do in the morning. Americans will learn to submit. One big socialistic village.
Mooshell is hoping she can have 4 more years of publicly paid multi-million dollar vacations, designer wardrobes, private celebrity entertainment and gormet food.
Check out Obama's Pie
Pies and Holidays for me but not for thee...
Gore has to be taking some kind of medication with steriod. That just doesn’t look natural.
I don't recall her getting a single vote in the last election.
I really really miss Laura Bush. She was a class act, loved her country, respected the office of the presidency and respected the position she was given as first lady. Truly a fine lady.
