Israel Warns Assad: Psalms 83 and Isaiah 17 have started.,

posted on 30/6/2011 @ 12:41

For those of you who do not believe in God, I would simply suggest that you consider what is coming to the world. I am not celebrating this fact at all. I am merely asking you to consider your thoughts and beliefs in light of Bible prophecy. As you see these things take place, you will return to this post with new eyes. No matter what you think at this point, hold on to your hat. It’s coming. Damascus, the oldest inhabited city on the planet, is slated for destruction. This is your sign that God is who He says He is.

2. Isaiah 17

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaiah+17&version=NIV

Isaiah 17

A Prophecy Against Damascus
1 A prophecy against Damascus:
“See, Damascus will no longer be a city
but will become a heap of ruins.
2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted
and left to flocks, which will lie down,
with no one to make them afraid.
3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,
and royal power from Damascus;
the remnant of Aram will be
like the glory of the Israelites,”
declares the LORD Almighty.

4 “In that day the glory of Jacob will fade;
the fat of his body will waste away.
5 It will be as when reapers harvest the standing grain,
gathering the grain in their arms—
as when someone gleans heads of grain
in the Valley of Rephaim.
6 Yet some gleanings will remain,
as when an olive tree is beaten,
leaving two or three olives on the topmost branches,
four or five on the fruitful boughs,”
declares the LORD, the God of Israel.

7 In that day people will look to their Maker
and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
8 They will not look to the altars,
the work of their hands,
and they will have no regard for the Asherah poles[a]
and the incense altars their fingers have made.

9 In that day their strong cities, which they left because of the Israelites, will be like places abandoned to thickets and undergrowth. And all will be desolation.

10 You have forgotten God your Savior;
you have not remembered the Rock, your fortress.
Therefore, though you set out the finest plants
and plant imported vines,
11 though on the day you set them out, you make them grow,
and on the morning when you plant them, you bring them to bud,
yet the harvest will be as nothing
in the day of disease and incurable pain.

12 Woe to the many nations that rage—
they rage like the raging sea!
Woe to the peoples who roar—
they roar like the roaring of great waters!
13 Although the peoples roar like the roar of surging waters,
when he rebukes them they flee far away,
driven before the wind like chaff on the hills,
like tumbleweed before a gale.
14 In the evening, sudden terror!
Before the morning, they are gone!
This is the portion of those who loot us,
the lot of those who plunder us.

3. Psalms 83 Wars

Forensic Bible Institute Ministries:

Psalm 83 War?

By: Dan Brown

The First War

For it is the day of the Lord’s vengeance, and the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion. (Isaiah 34:8)

As the day of the Lord nears, the Bible describes three different battles. Each battle gets progressively larger in scope. The first battle involves the destruction of Iraq and the nations bordering Israel. The second battle is led by Russia with the rest of the Islamic nations, and the third is the battle of Armageddon, which involves Asia with an army of two hundred million.
The destruction of Iraq is the opening salvo of the wars, but other nations are destroyed along with Iraq. It appears the people facing judgment with Iraq are the Palestinians, Egyptians, Syrians and possibly Saudi Arabians. God judges these nations when they attempt to annihilate Israel.

Palestinians: Philistines, House of Esau

The day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. As you have done [to Israel], it will be done to you. Your dealings will return on your own head…”Then the house of Jacob will be a fire and the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau will be as stubble. And they will set them on fire and consume them, so that there will be no survivor of the house of Esau,” For the Lord has spoken. Then those of the Negev will possess the mountains of Esau, and those of the Shephelah the Philistine plain; Also, they will possess the territory of Ephraim and the territory of Samaria, and Benjamin will possess Gilead. (Obadiah 1:15, 18-19)

The prophet Obadiah stated that as the day of the Lord draws near, a horrific war erupts between the Jews, the “house of Jacob” and the Palestinians, the “house of Esau.” This war results in all the Palestinians being driven out of the covenant land. The prophet stated that Israel will possess the Plain of the Philistines, which is Gaza. Ephraim and Samaria, located in the West Bank, are brought under Israeli control, along with Gilead. Gilead is the East Bank of the Jordan River.

Syria and Lebanon

Syria is Israel’s longtime worst enemy. Israel fought Syria in 1948, 1967, and 1973. Syria is the base for several organizations like Hamas. Syria also controls Lebanon and uses this country as a front to attack Israel.
The prophet Isaiah spoke of the war that crushes Syria but also weakens Israel. This first war totally destroys Damascus, and the nation of Syria ceases to exist. This war begins a chain reaction to the battle of Armageddon. When Israel totally destroys Syria, this is another key indicator that the day of the Lord is near.

“See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins…The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, and royal power from Damascus; the remnant of Aram will be like the glory of the Israelites,” Declares the Lord Almighty.
“In that day the glory of Jacob will fade; the fat of his body will waste away.” (Isaiah 17:1, 3-4)

During this war, the fortress (military power) ceases from Ephraim (a name for Israel). Syria also ceases from being a nation. Israel becomes thin, or loses a large percentage of its population.

Iran and the Mahdi

Iran’s final confrontation with Israel is found in the second battle, but it does have an important place in the first battle. Iran is an extremely important player in the wars leading up to the day of the Lord and therefore requires special attention.

On August 3, 2005, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad became the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His election sent powerful forces in the Middle East rushing toward a climax in a cataclysmic war with Israel. With both Ahmadinejad rising to power, and a few months later Hamas, the die was cast for a huge confrontation with Israel.

Ahmadinejad’s Theology:
He follows Shiite Islam and believes in the coming of Mahdi.
The Mahdi is Arabic for “rightly guided one.” He is a special ruler who ranks just below the Prophet Mohammed. The Mahdi is the restorer of Islam and justice who will rule just before the end of the world. He is a military figure who leads the Islamic armies in conquering the entire world. Under the generalship of the Mahdi, the entire world becomes Islamic. Those who fail to submit to Islam must die. This is the Islamic theology of the Mahdi.

The background of the Mahdi is very unusual. Ahmadinejad believes that the Mahdi is the twelfth Imam, Mohammed ibn Hasan, who was a direct descendant of Mohammed. Ibn Hasan lived in the ninth century. When he was five years old, he fell into a well. He went into a state of concealment that will last until the end of time, when he emerges as the Mahdi. Ahmadinejad believes this is the end of time, and that the Mahdi is soon to be revealed.
Ahmadenejad is then a mahdaviat, which means “the belief in and efforts to prepare for the Mahdi.” This was evident when he spoke before the United Nations in September 2005. During his speech, he offered a prayer for the hastening of the Mahdi to bring “justice and peace.” This prayer follows:

O mighty Lord, I pray to you to hasten the emergence of your last repository, the Promised One, that perfect and pure human being, the one that will fill this world with justice and peace.
Because Ahmadinejad is a mahdaviat, he has no fear of war with the United States or Israel.

Egypt

The fighting draws Egypt into this first battle, where Egypt is completely destroyed. It appears that the fighting between the Israelis and Palestinians spills over to Egypt. Egypt attacks Israel to its own doom. The destruction of Egypt is so complete that the survivors flee into the nations of the world. The Nile River stops flowing. Prophet after prophet describes the terrible destruction coming to Egypt – prophecies about the destruction of Egypt that have yet to be fulfilled. They await fulfillment when the day of the Lord is near.

Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land. (Joel 3:19)

Egypt will become a desolate wasteland. Then they will know that I am the Lord. “Because you said, “The Nile is mine; I made it, therefore I am against you and against your streams, and I will make the land of Egypt a ruin and a desolate waste from Migdol to Aswan, as far as the border of Cush. No foot of man or animal will pass through it; no one will live there for forty years. I will make the land of Egypt desolate among devastated lands, and her cities will lie desolate forty years among ruined cities. And I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries.(Ezekiel 29:9-12)

Jordan – Saudi Arabia

In the Bible, the modern nation of Jordan comprises three small nations: Ammon, Moab, and Edom. Ammon is the northern section of Jordan, Moab is the central section, and Edom is the southern section. The prophet Zephaniah spoke about the day of the Lord and the total destruction of Ammon and Moab – destruction has not yet happened and awaits future fulfillment (Zephaniah 1:14).

The destruction is so great that it turns part of the Jordan into Sodom and Gomorrah.

I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the reviling of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border. Therefore as I live, saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoit them, and the remnant of my people shall posses them. (Zephaniah 2:8-9)

The prophet Isaiah described the awesome judgment on Edom, also referred to as Idumea. The region of Idumea includes southern Jordan and the northwest corner of Saudi Arabia. The fact that Idumea includes part of modern-day Saudi Arabia is important. Isaiah said that during the day of the Lord, this area will burn with pitch or oil. The very nation known for oil is going to be on fire with oil!
Isaiah called the time of judgment on Idumea “the year of [God’s] recompenses” for what this nation did to Israel. God’s judgment falls directly on Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

It is the day of the Lord’s vengeance, and the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion. (Isaiah 34:8)
My sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment. (Isaiah 34:5)

The area burns so intensely that no one can pass through it.

The streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. It shall not be quenched night or day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever. (Isaiah 34:9-10)
Thus the Bible shows that the Palestinians’ hostility toward Israel erupts into an awesome war that destroys entire nations. The conflict draws in Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon. It appears that weapons of mass destruction are used and the entire nations cease to exist.

4. Psalms 83

Psalm 83 … Preview Of A Coming Attraction

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

Hezbollah says that Israel’s disappearance after the next war is an established fact. Iran’s President has called Israel a dirty microbe and a savage animal that will soon disappear in a flash. The commander in chief of Iran’s army predicts that millions will soon receive the joyous news of Israel’s destruction. Israel’s chief of staff warns of a “tough ordeal” coming soon.

With all the rhetoric flying around the Middle East about a major war this summer, and with multiple countries (including the US) rapidly beefing up their military preparedness, a quick review of Psalm 83 is in order to refresh our minds on the prophetic details of this coming attack against Israel.

Psalm 83 was probably written some time after the end of King Solomon’s reign (about 900 BC) but the Bible contains no account of such a coordinated effort by all of Israel’s neighbors to destroy them, either during that time or since. A partial fulfillment may be in view in 2 Chron. 20 when Moab, Ammon, and parts of Edom invaded Judah during King Jehosophat’s reign (872-848 BC) Interestingly, Jahaziel, a Levite who prophesied Judah’s victory in that battle was a descendant of Asaph, who wrote Psalm 83. Applying one of his favorite tactics, the Lord set Israel’s enemies against each other and they defeated themselves. Ezekiel 38:21 tells of a future use of this same tactic.

But the Battle of 2 Chron. 20 doesn’t fully meet the requirements of Psalm 83, having many fewer antagonists, so on that basis we’ll assume its fulfillment is still in the future, perhaps the very near future. If so, it could be the bridge between the current state of affairs in Israel and the conditions necessary for the Battle of Ezekiel 38 to happen. Let’s find out.

Psalm 83

O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.

“Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.”

With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you- the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre. Even Assyria has joined them to lend strength to the descendants of Lot. (Ps. 83:1-8)

The language is out of today’s headlines and the countries lined up against Israel in this Psalm inhabited the lands of Israel’s current neighbors. Edom and the Ishmaelites were in land occupied by southern Jordan today while the territories of Moab and Ammon make up the rest of that country. Ahman, the modern spelling of Ammon, is the capital of Jordan. (While the government of Jordan has a peace treaty with Israel, we should remember that some 70% of Jordan’s population is “Palestinian” and in fact the country was originally formed to be the Palestinian home land.) .

The Hagrites were part of Aram, whose capitol was Damascus in modern Syria. Gebal (also called Byblos) and Tyre can still be found in present day Lebanon. The Amalekites lived in Israel’s southern desert and Philistia settled in Gaza on Israel’s southern border. Assyria would conquer Aram shortly after Psalm 83 was written and the descendants of Lot is another reference to Jordan. Remember, Moab and Ammon were the sons of an incestuous union between Lot and his two daughters.

So here we have all of Israel’s next door neighbors, all of them sworn to Israel’s destruction, and all of them being whipped into a frenzy by Syria and Iran.

Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, who perished at Endor and became like refuse on the ground. Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, who said, “Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God.”

Make them like tumbleweed, O my God, like chaff before the wind. As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze, so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm. Cover their faces with shame so that men will seek your name, O LORD. May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace. Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD—that you alone are the Most High over all the earth. (Psalm 83:9-18)

Asaph, the Psalm’s writer, can’t resist telling the Lord exactly how he’d like Israel’s enemies to be dealt with. In that sense he’s just like you and me.

Midian was defeated by a vastly outnumbered force under the command of Gideon. It was another case of the Lord turning Israel’s enemies against each other and causing them to defeat themselves. (Judges 7)

Jabin was a king of the Canaanites and Sisera was the commander of his army. The Lord lured the Canaanite army into a trap and the Israelites destroyed them.(Judges 4) The commander of Israel’s army was named Barak, just like Israel’s current Defense Minister. Probably a coincidence.

Oreb, Zeeb Zebah, and Zalmunna were all leaders of the Midianite army defeated by Gideon.

Asaph’s prayer was that Israel’s current enemies will be just as soundly defeated as were the Midianites and the Canaanites, their armies scattered and their leaders executed.

Thousands of missiles and rockets located in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza are positioned to strike strategic targets everywhere in Israel. As of this week, Syria has moved 800 long range missiles into firing positions, placed them on combat readiness, and given them updated target coordinates. This was done in response to Israel’s nationwide civil defense drills. To avoid duplication in targeting, Iran has created and will direct a unified command center in Damascus to coordinate the massive simultaneous deployment of these weapons upon the outbreak of hostilities. Their thought is that the Israelis will not be able to protect themselves against such an all out attack and will be effectively disabled.

But Israel might pick this opportunity to launch a preemptive attack against the command center, wiping out Damascus in fulfillment of Isaiah 17. Losing their command and control abilities could cause the enemy attack to degenerate into a confused and chaotic effort that Israel will soundly defeat just like Gideon defeated the Midianites.

Should this be the case, Israel will become larger, not smaller, with the contention over the ownership of Gaza, the West bank and the Golan put to an end. Israel will become stronger, not weaker, its military reputation restored and even enhanced. The divided land will be divided no more, and Jerusalem will remain a unified city. The controversial security fence will likely come down, since the borders on all three sides will be safe and the threat of terrorist attacks eliminated. 60 years of war will have finally ended. It will be the perfect opportunity for Israel to be lured into a false sense of security and become a peaceful and unsuspecting people living in a land of unwalled villages as Ezekiel 38 requires. And it could all happen this summer.

Meanwhile, the Russians and Iranians, who will have fought this battle primarily by proxy, will study their defeat and learn from their mistakes, lying in wait for the next opportunity to strike. It won’t be long in coming. You can almost hear the footsteps of the Messiah. 05-29-10

How do you find salvation? Revelation speaks of overcoming the world. This is a reference to overcoming the spirit of the world. This is not done through might or diplomacy. This is a battle of the spirit. Salvation from the world system comes in the form of love. Love God and love your fellow man (even your enemies). That’s it. If you love God, He opens the door to the Holy Spirit to come into your heart. Once you exchange the spirit of the world for the Spirit of God, you have overcome the world. This will be critical information in these last days before the Holy Spirit is finally removed from the earth. After the Spirit is gone, the spirit of the world destroys the world utterly for a brief time. Only those who are marked by the Holy Spirit will retain their essence through the destruction. Seek God while He can still be found.

Respond to this post in a negative manner if you like. Just keep an eye on the news and bookmark this thread.

Christ died on a cross to save you from this mess. See it for what it is.

1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

END OF OP ON THAT THREAD.
