My Dad had ALZ and my Mothers prayer was that she would live long enough to take care of him. Dad died in 2006 and my Mother died 2009 so God honored her request and she was always thankful!
I lost my mother to this disease and her brother, my favorite uncle, also to this disease and an aunt by marriage as well. Each of those was a terrible experience to watch these strong, smart people give way to this horrible disease. But when it is a spouse, it is very different..this time it is your life partner, your confidant, lover, wife or husband, mother or father to your children, and the comparison, I have found, is so different. With a parent or other relative, your foundation, your security is not assaulted as it is with a spouse..
But no matter, it is a terrible terrible disease. The only one worse would be ALS..in that one everything else fails and the brain is the last light to go out on that Christmas Tree. That is almost worse...
