Not just someone, but Jesus Christ. The movie allows one to see how much He suffered for us, so that we don't walk out on Him (suicide) when He allows us to suffer for His sake (and for our own souls).

Please understand that to a non-Christian the fact that it's Jesus Christ being tortured isn't particularly relevant.

Euthanizing humans isn’t as dignified as you would have us believe.
The Germans did that sort of thing in the 40’s.
And some of the same buzwords were bandied about.
And it is a mere short shuffle from ‘right to die’ to ‘duty to die, you have no choice’.

Beliefs can turn around as long as one is still alive; heck, even miracles can happen. Suicide/euthanasia is never a positive answer to suffering. Christ (no matter who people think He was) didn't cop out on the Cross.
