That's the part that gets me so dang angry! Instead of asking her how she sees the problem and works the problem, he simply marked her WRONG! I have been working with her and tell her to continue to do the work the way she sees it in her head - THAT is how you develop intelligence! Not by forcing her to do things your way!

Unfortunately to get around this NEA slug she might have to conform a little bit and do things his way. Which means it could be double the work, doing it the moron's way & doing her way with her innate mathematics intuition. She doesn't want to be mislabeled by this mathematics ignoramus, that could lead to other problems with the K-12 educational establishment later.
Keep up the nurturing ! Sounds like you are doing it right.
