Can any FReepers in Miami area let me know how safe the downtown area is and the metro-mover? Should they use cabs or is the metro-mover safe?
My son is going tonight (last minute) to watch the game tomorrow with a friend. He is a grown man(mid twenties), so I don't want to say too much other than watch out and keep your wits about you, etc. But I was reading about the 'good and bad areas' online and some said it was dangerous and others said it was fine. All the sites about 'good and bad' neighborhoods online are so PC...I don't know what to believe. They are staying at a reputable hotel chain downtown near the riverwalk, but it looks very close to 'Little Havana', but not knowing the area, it's hard to tell. I hate Miami ever since almost getting mugged there in college.
I am sure it has changed...but for the better or worse..I don't know.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi FRiend. Visited Miami in january w husband and 20 yr old daughter. Stayed at the Groisevenor (sp) which is north Miami I believe and was comfortable as any other city. I enjoyed our time there and would definitely return
I would use this tool to figure out where crime is heavy and what type.

Is that you, Marc Rubio ?
Ex-g-friend must have given you far too much to drink!
Hollywood is in Broward County!!
Liberty City is in Miami-Dade County, two different cities!!!
Thank you for staying away from our beautiful city, we don’t need people like you!!!
Uh, okay. No problem. Why anyone would want to live there is beyond me but you stay and enjoy.
Which Convention Center?
Thanks. Years ago when I went there, it was awful(of course we were broke college kids). Our hotel was a nightmare and we came very close to getting mugged. I remember all the streets were so dark around the downtown area. I was so glad to get out of there the next day....lol! It was a long road trip to Key West...gads...but we survived. I always said I would never go back and haven’t to this day...lol!
If I stayed there I would just walk to the AAA. A bit north of there there is some construction work going on I believe!!!
Miami, mid-twenties, oh my..........
Downtown near the river. It’s just a couple of blocks from the arena where the game is being played.
That would be awesome...LOL...loved that show years ago!
Stop it...I was just talking myself down off the worry ledge....LOL!

Miami info ping
Best place in the world and we are guaranteed free snow removal also!!!
If he can get a room there, tell him to book at the Doubletree Grand Biscayne Bay instead. Love that hotel, and it’s right down the street from the basketball arena.
I’ll text him the info....thanks for your input.
I hope we have a live thread on FR tomorrow for the game. We are so excited in Dallas....I am sure folks in Miami are too.
Chill out. Sorry if you are offended, but you must know that if folks have a bad experience in Miami or anywhere else, they are not likely to forget it.
I am sure for every person that has a bad experience..there are 10 others who have had a marvelous time. That’s just the way it goes in any big city.
Every city has bad areas that should be avoided...surely you know that. Miami is no different.
