You have picked some pretty good names. Pick each one up and see how each one feels in your hand
Negative = the safety is between your ears with a Glock. If you don't have a lot of time to practice or are not too familiar with handguns, buy something with a regular thumb safety.
The Sig P250 is a great “friend” to have. Acurate, light weight, and in the matte black invisible in the dark ;)
No idea about any of those particular guns, although my opinion is that all things being equal, the Ruger is probably the best value for the money. That and I think you might ought to reconsider the caliber- 9mm works but it doesn’t strike with the authority of the .45 ACP.
I would stay away from Taurus. Their quality control is hit or miss and I'm being generous by saying that.
Get a Sig, but not the P250. If price is a concern, you’ll be happier with an SP2022.
If it is not, go with the P229 or P226.
LOVE my CZ 75B.
I like my Beretta 92F.
Bought a Sig P226 since The World’s Greatest Gun Salesman was elected, but haven’t shot it yet.
Oh yeah, those and the rest of the them all fell out of my fishing boat this week. I am still very upset about that. I miss them all so!
Why not go for a .45?
But hey, you decided on a 9mm.
Sig and XD are good choices.
Anyone that likes 9mm hasn’t tried .38 special or anything bigger. For home defence, you want a shotgun first and a double action revolver second. Notice autoloader handguns aren’t mentioned. This is no accident.
I accidentally left out the CZs. They are both well designed and well executed. Among the best there is.
Also if you can find one of the old Star model 28 or 30 models, they are beasts. Heavy but reliable and according to shooting ranges they hold up better than any to extensive shooting.
Echo Snowrip on the Sig P229. It is a tack driver and fun to shoot. Worth the extra money.
Good for concealed carry, home defense and it is home on the range.
Mine is a .40 but it is expensive to shoot. I have shot 9mm, .380 and .40 at the same target for comparison. The .40 makes a nice big hole.
Out of those the Sig is the sweetest shooter by far.
In fact, Have you ever fired the Sig in .45ACP??!!??
I haven't got personal experience with the models you listed aside from the Sig SAUER P250.
Let me nudge you toward a 9mm not on your list that's a sublime range gun and thoroughly capable as hell home defense pistol: Beretta 92FS.
That one is better than all others on your list in fit, finish, and function, but at about the same price. A genuine Italian-made model is beyond compare. Fits your bill perfectly since it's too blocky for CCW anyway, but shoots one ragged hole in paper at 25 feet. Italian Berettas come with amusing and fancy paperwork that looks like a Papal decree, plus a nice case. The other guns you list come in cardboard boxes.
A lot of people (including me) don’t much care for 9mm but you’ve clearly looked into it and made your choice. Anyway, while IMO it’s not the best, it’s also certainly not the worst.
I know you are going to get a lot of recommendations for the Glock even though it is not on your list. Personally I never liked the Glock trigger. Perhaps it is because I’m so used to a single action handgun - the Colt 1911.I find the trigger pull so much longer and less crisp than a single action gun.
While I haven’t had the opportunity to try one, I’ve heard very good things about the Ruger SR9, including here: http://www.gunblast.com/Ruger-SR9.htm. Note he says that dry firing the weapon without a magazine is very misleading (and not recommended). The main thing is, make every effort to try them all out before you buy - hand guns are very personal - what’s right for your buddy might not be the best choice for you.
Glock 19 works fine for me. If it’s a home defense gun you might want to get a rail mounted flashlight like a Surefire or Glock makes one as well.
