That's been my experience as well; it seems like a decent browser, but FF was there a long time ago (as was Opera), and since I've already spent a lot time getting FF to where I want it, I really don't see the point in shifting everything back over to IE9.
This is why MS should not have left IE so non-compliant with standards for so long: by the time they try to catch up, it's too late; that horse fled the barn years ago.
In terms of people who are having problems, it is quite possible that the upgrade installation is not fitting in well with your particular system, particularly if you've made extensive customizations to it. You might try uninstalling the upgrade, then downloading the IE9 installer manually and installing it that way.
