Detectives are looking for a man and a woman who stole a 10-month-old pit bull pup from an Animal Control facility.
The dog theft happened the night of June 2nd at the Pinellas County Animal Services in Largo.
Investigators say surveillance video shows the dog, named Danger, dropped off at about 10:10 p.m. About 20 minutes later, a late 1990s to 2002 model white Ford Taurus pulled up to the site.
A white female with brown shoulder length hair wearing a dark colored dress stepped out of the vehicle and walked up to the shelter. A white male with a stocky build, wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts then exited the passenger side of the car and also went into the shelter. The two remained inside the shelter for a time, and then returned to the car and left.
Deputies say that at 11:07 p.m. the same vehicle returned to the location. The male suspect exited the vehicle, this time wearing a black t-shirt. The male entered the shelter and a short while later, he is seen leaving the shelter with the dog.
The door of the cage Danger had been in was bent, and its lock broken.
Detectives say Danger was dropped off at the shelter initially by the his owner's landlord, who thought the dog had been abandoned in the backyard of the home.
When the dog owner, identified as 30-year-old Angelique M. Allaire, returned home, she discovered the dog was missing. Her landlord informed her that he had taken Danger to the Animal Services drop-off site. When she went to the site the following morning, Animal Services had already reported the theft.
Anyone with information that may assist detectives in this case is asked to contact Detective Ward Snyder of the Sheriff's Burglary and Pawn Unit at 727-582-6200; or to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 1800-873-TIPS.
This makes my case for “attack reports” rather well.
A -lot- of people have no clue what kind of dog they’re looking at unless it’s an incredibly common, obvious or well known breed.
I’ve actually had people come up to me when one of my Ibizans is with me and ask [I kid you not] “Is that a *dog*?”.
My Portuguese Podengo Medio is usually referred to as “such a cute little Basenji mix”.
One guy at PetSmart asked what kind of dog Odin was.
Is there anybody on earth who doesn’t recognize a ~Dobermann~??
Ugh.
Lord, I pray that this little pup and his mistress are reunited and the perps brought to justice.
I think it’s terrible that the press has so hounded dog ownership. They can’t tell the difference and practice “OMG!” journalism. It sells. And the more they report that gangs have “pit bulls” the more wannabe’s get them. Or what they think are pit bulls.
;-]
[The 'shock sells' MSM should just run clips from "Faces Of Death" every night and be done with it.]
Drat.
The goat disguise didn’t fool ya?....LOL
Greyhounds are wonderful dogs.
They go run like mad for 10 minutes and spend the rest of the day crashed on your furniture...;D
Looks like they corrected the breed.
I hope he’s recovered soon! I about fell over the other day when I saw a beautiful white bull terrier (owner-surrendered) at the pound...I thought, don’t they know that’s an $1,100 dog?
“Bull terrier ~mix~”?!?
Arrrrgh!
Do I have inundate them with *more* bitching already?
It’s not a mix!!!
It’s ears just aren’t fully up, yet!
[please send me the white BT...I’ll pay shipping]....:)
I love my friends greyhounds but I’m small and when they lean on me I need to be near a wall. LOL
Aw...they just wanna luv ya to death....:)
Hugging greyhound style. :-)
That’s about the size of it....:)
It could be that the tenant, dog owner had been evicted and was supposed to have been out by that date. Showed up and the tenant wasn’t there, but the dog was. I could see a landlord taking the dog to the pound under those circumstances. Or if he received complaints from the neighbors that the dog wasn’t being cared for, outside all the time, they hadn’t seen it’s owner for days, etc.
Click back to the article folks - an anonymous tip led to Danger’s recovery!

Now they need to find out “wth” that was all about.
Thanks for the ping. Sadly the owner will be in trouble for breaking in to get the dog back.
Was looking at your Greyhound in the picture above, it’s huge!! I once had a Bedlington Terrier, they are small and furry but have the Greyhound body. Look like a lamb when clipped.
Yup, not a pit bull terrier.
