I remember that Topps card

Willie Stargell was on this team. Bill Mazeroski and Roberto Clemente played in 1971, they also played in 1960 when the Pirates beat the Yankees in the Series. Clemente was Series MVP in 71. Clemente died in 1972 in a plane crash.

Went to a ton of weekend games at Connie Mack with Dad from about '63 to '73, as a kid I never realized what I was seeing with these guys and players like Koufax, Aaron, Bob Gibson, Willie Mays and tons of others. Even got to see Stan the Man in his final series at Connie Mack.

That was the end of baseball’s golden era. I saw a lot of games at old Forbes Field. I finally got to Bradenton this year to see the Bucs in Spring Training, something I’ve wanted to do since I was a kid.
