Change out "family pet" for car, firearm (cops shoot a LOT of folks!), trans fat, tobacco, swimming pool, 5 gallon plastic bucket, bicycle, etc. With the exception of tobacco and trans fat, more folks die from every one of the listed misadventures than are killed by dogs.

You can’t refute the documented death count -the names, dates ages of those who were mauled to death by pits. So count yourself among those who throw in amusement parks, cars, trans fat, tobacco...all that chaff to try to cover the fact that this breed kills disproportionately, without warning, in an unprovoked manner. On a thread where a pit has killed and eaten a family member, I protest the killing and you protest the reputation of the dog. Priorities.
