I clearly remember the doberman/brain BS. My parents heard it & freaked out as I had 3 of them & 2 children. Children should NEVER be left alone with a dog. When I was pregnant with my son my dobies saved my life when a man pushed his way into my house. While in the hospital with my son I sent baby blankets & dirty diapers home for my dogs to get his scent. I would love to have another one but my insurance would go sky high. Instead we have a Great Pyrenees who is learning to protect the farm.

Yeah, that was a pretty low point in the breed’s history.

Prior to pit bull popularity, it was always an ‘evil Dobermann’ in the movies/news.

I’ve had them since I was 13 until now [37 years, all total] and my parents are ~still~ scared snotless of them, despite the fact that none of my dogs have ever been less than very friendly and obedient to them.

You can’t teach those who are unwilling to learn.
