Any general military reading list not containing The Forgotten Soldier by Guy Sajer is incomplete at best.

Not so fast. The Forgotten Soldier may be faked. I used to do German WW2 reenacting and a lot of guys in the unit said it didnt sound right.Some of the German vets who read the book kind of wrote it off as a good fake. And these were soldiers who were in the same Division{ GrossDeutschland}
It is a good book....but beware.
