It would've been to Obama's benefit to continue drawing out the birth certificate issue and watching Republican candidates squirm and give mealy-mouthed half-answers every time they're asked if they think the President was born in Hawaii. Then, next September or October after various States have passed birther bills and every candidate was on the record regarding Obama's birth certificate, he'd release his long form and make the whole issue look silly.
Releasing it now only helps Republicans, taking this absurd conspiracy off the table and giving them the opportunity to say that the issue has been settled. For this, we can thank Trump.
Well that’s an interesting theory and a lame attempt to make the Trump BC debacle look better than it was. The reality is that he took a legitimate NBC issue and bungled it.
