I once was close to a session player who played on Ringo’s albums and on some of the albums Lennon produced. She said Ringo was one of the nicest, most comfortable in his skin people she ever met and that Lennon was a complete jerk. Actually quite a bit beyond jerk—but I don’t post using the vocabulary she used to describe him. She was a very forgiving person usually. But she had to work with him regularly for quite a while and he really got under her skin.
Based on all I’ve heard and read on the guys over the decades, I’m betting your friend’s characterizations were dead-on.
