Damn! I played Kenickie in a local production back in the 80's. I studied him a lot to get the part down. Conaway had actually played Danny Zuko on stage prior to the filming of Grease. Obviously, the film's director and producers wanted his experience, but went with a bigger name for their lead, so Conaway got the Kenickie part in the film.
