Huh???
Is it your pain or his pain?
Once that is straightened out I’m sure FReepers will have good suggestions.
pain tends to make you slightly incoherent
My advice: shuddup in his presence!
Somebody needs a long slow root canal.

if this doesn’t work we’re going to have to amputate
His mouth. Typo. I was adapting a frantic request for help on Facebook.
His pain. Typo. No edit function here.
Get some clove oil and swab it around the base of the tooth that is the problem. Garlic works, too. Garlic oil, use it the same way, but it’s strong, be warned. Or, you can also cut open a garlic clove and find some way to hold it in place over the base of the painful tooth at the gum line, or crush it and do the same. All of these are anti-inflammatories and can work oralliy in the instance of pain.
Sounds like the dentist who did the crown work wasn’t very thorough and your friend needs a root canal, though, honestly. What I’ve described is stopgap. It should help some. Anitbacterial, too, so if the decay is anywhere near the clove oil, garlic oil or garlic, there will be some benefit of doing this above and beyond pain relief.
It’s not instantaneous relief, though. Takes an hour or two to kick in. Fresh garlic can create a burning sensation, so that’s another thing you’d want to be aware of.
Acupuncture is amazing for pain control
That scene is even crazier than I remember it being.
Your friend has pain in your mouth? Now that is weird!
He should ask his dentist or PCP for a prescription for Neurontin / gabapentin. It works for all kinds of nerve pain and is worth a trial at least.
