AF1 did a go-around, shot approach again, landing was successful. Is very SOP.
Happens 100 times a day at airports around country.

Happened on a commerical flight I was on. We were practically on the ground when the plane began a rather abrupt ascent. Kinda scary. What bothered me most was there was no announcement after the fact to explain what had happened.
