(CBS/AP) CLEARWATER, Fla. - Jurors in the murder trial of Casey Anthony could be asked to smell a can that prosecutors say contains the odor of the decomposed remains of her daughter, Caylee.
Prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick on Thursday asked a juror in the case if he had any qualms about viewing images of the child's remains or smelling evidence. Prosecutors hope to use a novel forensics test of air from Anthony's car during the trial.

I’m pretty sure most people are already aware that the smell of a decomposing body is horrible. To attempt to force their nose to it is unnecessary. The rest of the facts of the trial should be more than sufficient for the jurors to render a verdict.
And the lawyers wonder why people try to avoid jury duty.....
I’m thinking the state’s case is in trouble. Just a gut feeling I have.
Glad this isn’t a rape case.
Lol
Betcha she overdosed her daughter on drugs, then dumped the body. What a selfish witch. I know of a family that is probably doing the same thing. It’s my gf daughter in law and son. I don’t know them personally and they live in another state. My gf lived with them for several months. She said that they use to leave the 3 year old son alone at night when they would go out and party. My gf said she’d found numerous bottles of children’s cold medicine. The kid didn’t have a cold or allergies. The stuff with Benadryl in it. That stuff will knock you out.
You absolutely don’t need to smell it ahead of time.
I was out hiking one day, caught a whiff in the air and though to myself “What an awful sickening smell. It smells like death.” And a few seconds later I walked by the carcass of a decomposing deer.
It’s a smell like no other and something instinctual recognizes it immediately.
Probably doesnt matter since the defense likely has nothing.
Members of the jury wouldn’t know if the bad smell in that can is the smell of decomposing human flesh or not. The prosecution should instead call in an expert to testify of what the odor is. The jury can judge whether they trust the expert’s testimony or not.
Hopefully this bitch gets shanked in prison....
Do they child a favor and call CPS next time you know they are going out.
tell them they are out, and the child is home alone.
If they find her drugged, you will be doing the child a great favor.
Normall I HATE CPS -they are normally useless bureaucrats who cannot find their asses with both hands.
But when YOU KNOW of some thing wrong, and can point them right to it, they might get it right.
Prosecution does not have a lot either- they have less than in OJ’s trial, and look what happened there.
They should ACT like they are 100% confident, though, and PROMISE the death penalty... then hint of an offer or wait for her to beg for a plea deal of life in prison in exchange for a full detailed accounting of the crime and what happend.
I honestly believe the stupid bitch drugger her so she could go out and party and she died, accidentally. It is the actions afterwards that are going to get her the death penalty
I wish I could. But, I have no first hand knowledge now. My gf lives in UT and hasn’t lived with them for well over a year. I live in MI and they live in CA.
ike used this one on the German people didn’t he...
I dont claim to know what happened, but if I had to take a position, I’d say it was a deliberate killing. If it had been an accident, Casey presumably would have been devastated and not in the mood to party hardy and get tattoed.
JMHO.
The prosecutors know the smell alone will not be alowed as evidence. it is an intentional inflame the jury situation and they don’t have to.
They prosecutors have successfully tained ALL the potential jurors into thinking about this.
The defense does not need anything. Remember trials are UNfair to the state. it is tipped to “beyond the exclusion of every reasonable doubt.”
If the state has nothing, she walks.
