Good question. It certainly seems that the very first we see of him in Hawaii is when he is two or three years of age. However, if the 'wife in the Philippines from whom he separated' was Anna Obama, Mary Toutonghi baby-sat for ANNA in January, when her own daughter, who was born in July, 1959, was 18 months of age. And that means the child Mary baby-sat was conceived WHILE STANLEY ANN DUNHAM WAS STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL SOMEWHERE. So THAT child could NOT have any connection to Stanley Ann Dunham.
I know the timelines don't all gel but if BHO jr's mother was Anna Obama and now BHO jr is being taken care of by the nanny SAD wouldn't SAD possibly know Anna? Just thinking out loud here

So I was thinking SAD needed to get to PI in a hurry for a "sick relative" but then she stated her trip was delayed for a month. And I know that doesn't jive with Maddy saying BHO jr's mom died in 1970....but it does seem to me that her needing to get PI makes some kind of a connection....
It's not out of the question that SAD may have had cause to visit ANNA OBAMA in the PHILIPPINES IN 1986. But Madelyn Dunham telling her relatives in 1982, that 'the boy's mother died in 1970' (when Stanley Ann was very much still alive,) simply suggests to me that the Dunhams used this story to explain how they came to be involved with looking after him. (He was already on the mainland when Virginia Goeldner and her husband visited Hawaii in 1982)
Another possibility might be that ANNA - if she was the 'wife in the Philippines' really was ill, and Stanley Ann Dunham had cause to visit her?
'Dreams' wasn't able to cover everything...there was nothing about the U of WA in 'Dreams' and how could he have known about the Goeldner visit, when he wasn't there? Maya is shown in a group image with the Goeldners, but she was only 12 years of age at the time, and probably had forgotten all about it by then.
