Charges Dropped in Florida Teen Cat-Killer Case

I was stunned to learn all charges have been dropped against 19-year-old Tyler Weinman by the Miami-Dade State Attorney's office, according to a news item in the Daytona News Journal.

Over a year ago, our first story about Tyler Weinman was published.

At the time of his arrest Weinman was 17 years old, and charged with the killing and mutilating of 21 cats in Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay in the Miami-Dade area of Florida.

Attention was drawn to Weinman by police officials, following a tip they received. Weinman was stopped by law enforcement for a traffic infraction and arrested on charges for marijuana found in his car. After obtaining a warrant to search his home, police found catnip even though Weinman did not own a cat.

Investigators said while Weinman was being questioned by police, he appeared "over enthusiastic and scary" when talking about his experience while dissecting cats in school, animatedly describing the sound of the skin when being torn. Investigators also noted that Weinman appeared to have cat scratches on his body. Additionally, during one of the interviews, Weinman said, "If I tell you about the first cats that I did, can you make the rest of them go away? "

Important tidbit "the wounds found on the preserved remains of 8 of the dead cats were consistent with large animal bites."

What ya have is a smart-ass kid who made a bunch of comments to the police and investigators too lazy to look at the evidence, aka a witchhunt.

That kid’s face looks pretty scary to me. I pray to Dear God that they are right and that this kid was NOT the cat killer. Else-wise, I fear we are looking at a serial killer in the bud.

Have you ever felt like you are completely on another world? I once hit a deer and had to shoot it to take it out of its suffering. I deer hunt every year, but I still get that knot feeling in my gut when I think about that incident of taking it out of its suffering- yet it seems there are so many who enjoy inflicting suffering. I sometimes just don’t get it.. how can people enjoy inflicting cruelty for no reason.

I don’t know, just needed to rant.

They want to go after people who kill and torture animals? Send Peta and the Justice department to the Crow Indian Reservation in Hardin MT. You want to see horrendous child abuse? Same place. Everyone of them are Democrat voters.

“seems there are so many”

Seems is the word. It makes the news. The vast majority who would much rather end suffering than inflict it are never reported. Because this is a Christian society where even those who don’t believe in Christianity are steeped in its morality.

I suppose PETA would be incensed at the Indian ceremonies. But who knows.

"Tyler suffered through 17 months of humiliation, death threats and indignities that no one should have to bear. The police succumbed to the lynch mob and Tyler was arrested for a crime he did not commit."

Typical lawyer speak. Of course the monster did the deed (imo - in case there's lawyers out there). Today it's cats. Tomorrow it's larger game. Remember his name because he'll be back in the headlines soon.

the vet said “animal bites” were the cause of death.

What part of that don’t you understand?

Kid looks like an incurable smart aleck. Quite possibly led police on a wild goose chase. Police too embarrassed to go after the kid for pulling their leg.

I would bet on it are, some old biddy had a bitch against his family. A friend of mine that i went to school with was getting a degree in biology, every-time you opened the deep freeze at the frat house you found some new dead animal he had picked up on the road. I think he cuts on people today.

I think it was ‘the vet said “animal bites” were the cause of death.’ part.
