Well, I'm new here. A long time reader and admirerer of some of the insight here. I'm definitely a Republican, although I must confess that I'm probably more moderate than many regulars here.
That said, I'm no "DU" person. Yes, I've been informed about what that means. :) So here I be, hopefully able to contribute here and there as I have plenty of insight to share.

Okay, I just spoke to my friend off-line. It was a big misunderstanding, even on my part (somehow I took his comments personally even though I wasn’t there at the time and that created a negative situation between us, which we have resolved).
I can vouch for him; I have known him for ten years and I know he’s not a DU member—he only knew about it from the advice I gave him. He’s been lurking here for a long time, and with the recent events, he wanted to participate. He does have experience with the military, of which he is a strong and proud supporter. He feels bad that he didn’t have a chance to explain his comments, and he hopes to perhaps be unzotted.
So I’m making a heartfelt plea on his behalf for the opportunity to return to FR.
