Who to believe. Ask yourself, "Cui bono?" Who stands to gain the most from Bin Laden's death at this time? Not the Pakistanis; their complicity in hiding him in plain sight will not be overlooked. Not the American people; OBL's death will not mean the end of police state tactics being implemented in the name of national security. Meanwhile gas is $4.00/gallon and climbing.
Cui bono? Not the military who risked their lives to kill the guy. To limit collateral damage, Obama chose the most dangerous strategy, putting the lives of the Seals in grave danger. They performed superbly, but who will even know their names for a very long time?
Only Obama stood to gain anything from Osama's demise at this time. Just when his polls were in freefall, and the birth certificate issue was causing more and more problems for him, this windfall occurs.
What, if anything did happen? Did Seals storm the compound and kill Bin Laden? Or did Hollywood shoot the whole thing in a studio? After Wag the Dog, I don't always believe what I see on TV. But one thing I do know: Obama was clearly the winner in this battle.
The body should have been kept at least for a time as evidence. The idea that pictures should not be shown is ridiculous. There were no problems with pictures of Sadam’s sons being shown dead or videos of Sadam’s death. Why should current and/or potential terrorist believe that Bin Ladin is truly dead? On the word of someone saying they checked the DNA? I think not. At anytime they can “resurrect” him and say that he was never dead by merely putting out a concocted video of him for propaganda purposes as they may have done before. Pardon the pun but something seems very fishy about this buried instantly at sea thing.
