I think your question points to the truth of the matter.
- Perhaps because he and his company are more concerned with promotion and marketing than they are science and technology.
- Perhaps because his product is smoke and mirrors and he doesn't really want anyone with a brain to have a look at it. He knows that most journalists have almost no knowledge of science and won't be able to ask a tough question even if they wanted to.

He HAS gone to engineers and scientists. He has been working with the physics department of the University of Bologna in Italy (with Dr. Focardi) for several years.

All of his demos have been exclusively attended by science professionals, for the most part physicists, largely from Italy, but some from Sweden.

So his public "unveiling" is not exactly without scientific validation.

Haven't you heard? There's a grand conspiracy by the scientific establishment, governments, and corporate interests to suppress the genius breakthroughs of bold, rogue thinkers like Rossi. In these very threads you can learn all about it.

So that's why Rossi and every other free-energy claimant whose work was never replicated went to the media instead of engineers and scientists. The media isn't in on the conspiracy. Or something.
