As the article says, succession really isn’t up to the Queen completely.
I still believe that Charles will be king (should he outlive his mother). He’ll never be the popular figure Elizabeth has been -— any interest in him pretty much faded once Diana was out of the picture -— but he’ll hold the title.

The article said they did a (my words) test run. He and his wife went to Canada and no one was interested 53 people showed maybe. So the Queen sent William in her place to something and people went fanatical. I read the article different than you. Charles is too political and unpopular. He may take the throne but I don't think for long. I think the rumors of his having Alzheimer’s may pass him up. Who knows...
