What is it about pizza that makes us love it so much? Is it the savory cheeses, the pliable crust or the aromatic sauce? Perhaps it's the customizable nature of the treat. Each pizza is different; across the country -- the world, even -- foodies get to compliment their pies with the toppings they most love. You can call it an Italian creation, an American staple or even a Brazilian standby, but one thing's for sure: we all crave pizza. But where should you expect to taste the best slice?

I like Palermo's, they have a nice sweet sauce. Another good pizza in the area is Vito and Nick's at 84th and Pulaski. They have been there forever.
I always made my own pizza. Bake the crust a bit and brush it with garlic flavored olive oil, then add my own sauce and toppings while still hot. Cheese goes on about half way through the baking. Excellent!
The best pizza is made with love. :)
I like cornmeal. Either you like it or you hate it.
Howie’s were good for their flavored crusts but abandoned San Diego.
Dear Hubby’s favorite: Numero Uno, a Los Angeles chain with a thick crust and extra tomatoes.
My sentimental favorites: Blondies or Zachary’s in Berkeley.
I am presently a gourmet pizza chef.
We have 75 or so various ingredients arranged in any manner the customer desires.
My work is a living hell.
Agree with you about Gino’s East, but in Little Italy, off of Taylor Street, there were mom-and-pop Italian restaurants that gave you a pizza four inches deep. That was magnificent, made by Italian-American families by hand. This thin-crust New York crap is scandalous. No wonder people there are insane, they don’t have decent pizza.
Godfather’s was good. My all-time favorite is Round Table, though.
Chef Boy Ar Dee was a great way for kids to learn how to make pizza. Mine have it down to a science as adults now.....in fact no longer sliced or baked in a pizza pan... but they spread it out way thin on a cookie sheet splashing the pan with cornmeal.... and scissor cut in strips. Adding all types of toppings to suit their mood. Fun!
I’ve only had frozen Home run inn but it was really good. Used to love Rosati’s. They seem to have changed. We order at work from a place called Nardi’s and they are excellent. Back when I grew up in Cook Co. a little place called Giacchino’s had the best pizza, heard they are still around.
If you ever drive thru Windsor Ont. stop and order a pizza, take my word not a bad pizza to be found in the city,my favorite’s Sams or Franco’s
I remember Square Pan Pizza! It was my best friend’s favorite. It was pretty good overall, but lost a couple points with me when they sliced the mushrooms too thin.
Regina Pizzeria, In Boston’s north end. Best Pizza I ever had.
I’d never had Round Table pizza until about 2 months ago. The crust was the absolute best I’ve ever tasted. It was so good I don’t remember if the toppings were worth a hoot.
That said, almost any pizzeria in Rome, Italy was about the best in the world. Thin, and tastes like its charcoal grilled. They are floppy so you fold them in half and eat them like a sandwich, and wash them down with beer.
You are so right. In fact, I am going to have a slice of pizza from Italy right now. I am literally having a slice of pizza that you detailed in your post right now. Living in Italy is paradise. Although I leave Italy after five years on 12 May and back to the states.
Since they never visited me, and asked for a sample of my home made, you know this is bogus.
