Well, BHO Senior was no kind of American, so Afro-American and Aframerican are out. And so is Junior's "Natural Born" status.

As someone who came to maturity in the 60s, there were plenty of foreign blacks in college with me that made the distinction that they weren't “Negros” or “colored” but instead “African” or “Haitian”. I had a good freind, born and raised in Topeka who would affect a Caribbean accent and tell newly met friends, “I'm not black, I'm Jamaican.”

In the civil rights era, many blacks weren't too civil to each other or unwilling to game the overall intense focus on race issues.
