In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

ob·lo·quy [ob-luh-kwee] –noun, plural -quies.
1. censure, blame, or abusive language aimed at a person or thing, especially by numerous persons or by the general public.
2. discredit, disgrace, or bad repute resulting from public blame, abuse, or denunciation.

Example sentence:
"Not all writers or artists seek or ably perform a public role, and those who do risk obloquy and derision, even in free societies."
– Salman Rushdie, New York Times, April 20, 2011

Etymology:
1425–75; late Middle English. Obloquy means "harsh or critical statements about someone," and also "the condition of someone who lost the respect of other people" – both of which apply here. It's a word far more often written than spoken, with a formal tone that suits a serious issue. It comes from the Latin obloquy, "to speak against," from ob- "against" + loqui to "speak" (making it a relative of words like soliloquy and elocution).

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Oh what a sad picture! I was rooting for y’all to get rid of the Flyers, and I like Ryan Miller. A++ for you. Will you root for us? We will need help going up against numero uno this year. We’re hoping they’re banged up and tired from the Hawks.

Am I the only one who doesn’t believe his form is legit? If it was, it would have been released years ago when the question was first presented. A+ for you! David Gray is coming back here for a show in June and I could not be less subtle with my family about Mother’s Day.

Our schedule had to fit around a Charlie Sheen show in Vancouver.

I knew a guy in college who was considering becoming a Brother, and he said, “chastity, I can handle that, but the obedience thing.....naahhh.”

That’s good, but he gets punished for insubordination instead of perverting the gospel for years and years?

Saw the doc yesterday. I still get weary easy, so he’s giving me another week off. I’ll check him again next Friday, then hopefully be back at work the following week. Half days at first.

Then he should be used in the playoffs more, eh?

The worst part was the series was lost on the same exact slick backwards pass that got them in the previous game.

Fool me twice...

Maybe he’s their secret weapon and must be used sparingly? I’m glad you’re improving. The theory is 3 days easing back for each one day sick in bed so take your time.

Thanks Teach!

Looks like we have another "Proofer", Senator Dr. Rand Paul

“I’ve come to New Hampshire today because I’m very concerned,” Paul said. “I want to see the original long-form certificate, with embossed seal, of Donald Trump’s Republican registration.”

The heart will root for the Preds, even though due to the results of the 1st Round they now play VAN who is my WC finalist pick. ;)

came damn close last night, had the Penguins had even an OUNCE of offense from what was largely a team of minor leaguers, he would have lost.

Isn’t it amazing how many people on FR believe that the most powerful man in the world is incapable of producing a competent forgery.

and as for the Manchurian candidate theory, why would it be someone so exotic with all of these question marks surrounding him and all of this OTHERNESS? why wouldn’t it be someone who could pass muster without question?
