Good point. Obama could have done this 2 or 3 years ago. But the President, State of Hawaii, etc. etc. all part of a conspiracy? Unless someone comes up with a smoking gun (and odds of that are slim to none) continuing to pursue it marginalizes the party.
Gas is headed to $5-6 a gallon. Deficit is up 40%. Stimulus didn’t work. Etc. etc. The average swing voter who doesn’t vote party cares about the economy first. Republicans need to put forward a clear plan to cut the deficit, improve the economy, bring gas prices down. They don’t really care about anything else.
People hide things because they don't want them found. By Occam's Razor, the idea that the President was/is purposely hiding his records is the more conspiratorial view (rather than keeping a secret from being discovered). So, there WAS/is a conspiracy.
Myself, I presumed that Obama didn't want his BC found because there was something damning about it. THAT is the simplest answer as to why someone would hide such a thing. That he has been withholding something that should never have been withheld in order to sidetrack political opponents is a fairly devious conspiracy.
Having been shown that there WAS, in fact, a conspiracy engaged in by Obama & others; it raises an interesting question. Is the Birth Certificate a misdirection away from some other aspect of his past that he truly DOES wish to hide? For, once the Birth Certificate is revealed, all other requests for information about his background are more easily dismissed as "silliness".
There's nothing "silly" or "conspiracy-minded" about expecting any public officer to make his past known to the American public.
That said, further investigations will never go anywhere, nor would they have any substantive result.
The "marginalization" of anyone still looking for reasonable and fair answers about Obama's background will occur because only a "margin" of people will continue to ask for what should always have been freely given.
