Well. First off, let me just say mea culpa, and apologize to you all, and to your Mr Williams, for causing distress and for incorrectly maligning him.
That said, I was not entirely wrong.
There is another Walter E. Williams who is (was, actually, as he apparently died a few years ago) as I described, a black DC-centric Democrat.
He was the mayor of the District of Columbia, and when running for reelection was defeated in a primary by none other than Marion Barry; Barry was endorsed in that primary by none other than The Washington Post.
See here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Washington
and here - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local/longterm/library/dc/barry/78endors.htm
Unbeknown to me, because I left DC in late 2000, the Walter E. Washington I meant (and thought you all were talking about) died in 2003.
So. Again my apologies.
But while I was wrong, sort of, I was not drunk. Neither am I insane nor am I a liberal idiot. I just remembered another Walter Williams.
And no, I have no idea whether the two are related.
Well, crap. I have apparently had the same brain fart two days running. Walter E. Williams is not related to Walter E. Washington. They are not the same man, and I have no earthly idea how I confused the two. This is truly embarrassing.
I’ll take my well deserved beating now, and just kind of slink off into the corner here . . .
It’s ok we all make mistakes, not me of course but other people.
;-)
